815 - AGENT FOR H.A.R.M.
Genre: ’60s Spy (1966,
Color)
Synopsis: In the ’60s, there were a number of spy movies and TV shows inspired by the success of the James Bond films. Most
weren’t very good and this TV pilot
– aka movie – is one of those. The basic plot is about an alien spore that causes instant melting death upon contact with a
person’s skin (although, for some reason, these spores don’t travel through the air so breathing around them is a-ok) that some bad guys have turned into some deadly spore-shooting guns.
Our hero, Adam Chance – agent for H.A.R.M. (aside from what it does to a viewer of this movie, what
exactly does that acronym stand for?) – is on the job to, I
guess, stop the bad guys from using this spore to take over the world or something.
He first investigates a scientist who found the spores, particularly by
closely investigating the scientist’s hot-looking and always bikini-clad niece
Ava.
The rest of the movie is a lot of disjointed spying scenes as stuff happens and Adam has to constantly elude the bad guys, one of whom looks like
the singer “Prince” formerly known as “The Artist” formerly known as “The Artist Formerly Known As Prince” formerly known as “Prince” (who
I’ll call PFKATAFKATAFKAPFKAP for short... on second thought, I’ll just call him the Prince Guy for short).
It all ends with a spore-gun shoot-out with the bad guys and Adam finally figuring out that the
scientist’s niece really isn’t his niece (but she probably is still his
close research assistant – nudge, nudge).
Don’s Review: This was a fairly good episode, although not quite as fun as some of the other Spy
Movies the show did in the past. The host segments deal with
Mike’s trial for blowing up a planet or
two... or three... and they all are pretty entertaining, one of the better host segment arcs of the season.
So, although there are better Spy Movie experiments, this episode was still fairly enjoyable and
I’ll
definitely watch it again someday.
