514 - TEENAGE STRANGLER with short: IS THIS LOVE?

Genre:  Ultra-low Budget Teen/Horror (1964, Color)

Short:  In the short, a young girl is intending to marry her boyfriend before – gasp! – she graduates from college.  Her much, much older and, presumably, wiser roommate thinks the young girl is making a mistake because she, the older roommate, is engaged to her own son... I mean, own boyfriend... and won’t make the mistake of getting married until she’s out of school or on social security, whichever comes first.  The young girl’s parents show up to talk her out of it – which leads her to elope with her boyfriend. (She really showed them!)  And then it abruptly ends – no scenes of the newlyweds living in misery or anything, which makes this a very pointless short.  However, M&tBs riff it really well and it’s my favorite part of this episode.

Synopsis:  The feature is one of those ultra-low budget teen flicks, although surprisingly in color, about a strangler going around and killing girls.  One guy, named Jimmy, is the leading suspect so he tries to prove his innocence, with the help of his girlfriend and his ultra-wussy brother Mikey (who is so incredibly pathetic that he’s the most memorable character in this movie and he is also someone who really needs to be slapped often!).  Eventually, Jimmy’s girlfriend is in peril from the real killer so Jimmy and the cops arrive to save the day at the end.

Don’s Review:  This is one awful movie and the riffing is, unfortunately, rather low-key and sparse – which may be due to Mike’s newness in the role of the main host of the show.  Although the host segments are decent and the dorky Mikey character alone has a permanent place in MST history, the lackluster riffing really mark this episode a bit lower in my book.
