410 - HERCULES AGAINST THE MOON MEN
Genre: Low Budget Fantasy (1964, Color)
Synopsis: “Sandstorm! Sandstorm!” “Deep Hurting! Deep Hurting!”
Another Hercules flick and this one, starring Alan Steele (I wonder if
that’s his
real name?) as the Herc, is pretty confusing. In it, Herc and his friends start off on some sort of journey to something important (I think) then Herc has the fight off a monkey moon-creature in a cave and, next, they are captured by some evil Moon
Queen’s soldiers.
She, like all queens in these Herc films, tries to put Herc under her power through a magic potion but (of course) fails.
Herc and his buddies then walk through a sandstorm, fight some rock creatures, and defeat the queen and put an end to her evil schemes (not that I know what
they were, but every evil queen has some evil schemes, right?).
Don’s Review: This experiment features what must be the worse of the Herc films.
This movie features a 10+ minute long non-continuous sandstorm sequence
that’s about as infamous as the rock climbing sequence in
Lost Continent (ep #208).
Good riffing, though, and funny Mad host segments (“Deep Hurting! Deep Hurting!”), in addition to the somewhat dumb
“Pants” song make for a pretty decent episode overall.
