324 - MASTER NINJA II
Genre: ’80s TV Action (1984, Color)
Synopsis: In this Master Ninja “movie”, the first
half deals with the two Ninjas
(Ninji?) – master (Lee Van Cleef) and apprentice (Timothy Van
Patten) – helping a cute country girl (with a “too ’80s” hairdo) form a union at her warehouse and fight off the corrupt owners who do not want the workers to unionize (actually, the workers
didn’t seem at all interested in forming a union...
that is, until Van Pattern gives a stirring – make that nauseating –
speech. They probably joined just to shut him up!) The second segment has the two helping another cute girl (who looks very familiar
– wasn’t she briefly in
Ghostbusters?) and her rich father fight against terrorists who want to do something evil (although
exactly what is a mystery).
The duo get additional help from James Bond... okay, it’s not really James Bond
– just that lame-assed actor who played Bond in
On Her Majesty’s Secret Service and was so incredible bad, he was never asked to play the role again.
Here, they don’t call him Bond – but he dresses like Bond, talks like Bond, and drives a gray Aston Martin
DB5 full of cool gadgets... just like Bond. Therefore, he still sucks as Bond even if he really
isn’t Bond. Master Ninja and his helpers then defeat the
stupid terrorists and rescues some hostages.
Don’s Review: Like ep #322, this is two more episodes of the thankfully defunct TV show
The Master very loosely strung together to create a “movie”.
Riffing is again good and, although the host segments were
a bit better in the first one, I actually like this one the best of the two
Master Ninja experiments seen on MST. And luckily, the Master
Ninja experiments ended with this one, because there are five more
Master Ninja pseudo-movies lurking out there (that fact alone sends a shudder down my spine).
