This poster makes it like a cool movie... don't be fooled!110 - ROBOT HOLOCAUST with short: COMMANDO CODY PT 9

Genre:  Post-Apocalyptic (S: 1952, B&W;  F: 1987, Color)

Short:  This starts with the last installment of Commando Cody seen on MST, and it’s cut short as the film “breaks” before the end, revealing a funny picture of the Mads with “Oops! the film broke” written above their heads while cheesy music plays in the background.

Synopsis:  The feature is one of those extremely lame Post-Apocalyptic Mad Max rip-offs from the ’80s.  This one takes place after the Robot Rebellion of ’33, as robots control the air or something, and humans are “air-slaves”... or something.  Some humans, a few of who can breathe the poison air (you got me), band together to attack the main robot compound and free a woman’s father who is being held prisoner.  There, a speech-impeded woman named Valeria is running things for the “Da Kwon” (or is it Dawg-wan? Dar-guan? Darcon?? Stargon???).  Valeria is a regular Elmer Fudd barking orders for the “Darguan” – which apparently is a giant light bulb stuck on an old mainframe.  Anyway, our human heroes must face cheesy obstacle after cheesy obstacle as they try to defeat the “Darcon” while Valeria frequently says incomprehensible things like “Dawg-wan, I assoowa yoo, dey aw doowmmed.”  Eventually, they get to the “DaKwon” and find that the father they were trying to rescue has been turned into a giant avocado!  The humans blow up everything, including the girl’s Avocado Man father (I guess he’s guacamole now) and the voice-over announcer tells us that the humans have defeated the “Dark One” (oh, THAT’S what Valeria was saying this whole time!) and some other stuff, but by then, who really cares what happened?

Don’s Review:  The riffing is a little bit on the sparse side, typical for a Season One episode, but the humor of this incredibly cheesy movie comes through strongly. Although the host segments are mostly a waste, this is a must-see for anyone who’s a fan of bad post-apocalyptic sci-fi. (Aren’t we all?)
