K14 - MIGHTY JACK

Genre:  ’60s Japanese Sci-Fi (1968, Color)

Synopsis:  This movie was riffed again on the show, so read the write-up for ep #314 - Mighty Jack for a plot synopsis.

Don’s Review:  Yet another Sandy Frank film – this one a James Bond rip-off (sort of) – is featured in this experiment.  As for the riffing here, it is decent KTMA-era riffing, on a level with what’s heard in the latter half of this season.  The host segments are all rather short, due to the length of the movie, and feature Tom Servo and Crow welding their bodies to Gypsy for fun (although Joel doesn’t think it’s funny until they put on some women’s undergarments), as well as the ’Bots watching Punky Brewster and discussing humor – what’s not funny (Punky Brewster) and what would be funny (if they kill Joel, he can’t reboot himself because he’s just a human).  This is an enjoyable episode that, unlike the cable version, features the movie uncut (and, hence, making a little more sense), but it’s still not on the level of the later Comedy Central version.
