K08 - GAMERA VS. GUIRON

Genre:  Japanese Monster (1969, Color)

Synopsis:  This movie was riffed again during the cable run of the show, so read the write-up for ep #312 - Gamera vs. Guiron for a plot synopsis.

Don’s Review:  Yet another Gamera experiment, the last one of the KTMA era, is the feature here.  The riffing here is a bit better than in earlier experiments, but still not at the somewhat higher level it would develop during the second half of the KTMA season (and, of course, not nearly as good as it would be during the cable run of the show).  The host segments have a few amusing bits, the best being when Crow dreams that he is the Mad Scientist and is experimenting on Dr. E and Dr. F (he sends them something called A Planet of the Apes Christmas – hey, at least it sounds better than the Star Wars Holiday Special!)  So, like the other KTMA Gamera experiments, this is a mildly amusing episode, but not nearly as good as the redone version.
