Don’s Review: For those who want to see MST riff on some of the big budget dreck
that’s unleashed on us by Hollywood every summer,
the closest they ever got was in two summer specials, this being
the first.
In this Sci-Fi half-hour special, they riff on the trailers and previews for some of the big summer movies in 1997:
The 5th Element, Batman & Robin, The Lost World: Jurassic
Park, Contact, and Men in Black. This is good proof that a movie
doesn’t have to be low-budget to be cheesy enough for riffing.
And the riffing here starts off well, but then degenerates into unfunny silliness when Bobo, Observer, and Pearl show up.
